Of course I couldn't do a blog post without a picture, so here's one from my *attempt* at some portraits with Sunshine's ladybug headband from Jiayin Designs. Her cleft has SO grown on me that I don't even see it anymore. I think I'll be a little sad when her first surgery rolls around in August.
Anywho - We have been home a little over a week now and I wanted to do this while it was still fresh in my mind. I went through my packing list and updated with notes about we did and didn't use while in China. It's probably a little over the top, but if I can help even just one other person, then I feel like the work was worth it! I have always been labeled "organized" (or anal, over-planner or any number of *those* titles) and think the list is a pretty good compilation ... it has everything (literally, everything) that we took with us. Of course, we went in the hot, humid summer and brought home a 1-year old cleft baby, so I suppose you'll need to take that into consideration for your specific needs.
I have yet to figure out how to attach files to blogger, so here is a link to the download - it's .pdf file. If it doesn't work, please shoot me an email at livingouthislove@yahoo.com and I'll email it to you!
Thank you so much for posting this!! This is the first month we are eligible to receive a referral from the shared list, so I'm hoping that we're able to refer to your list within the next few months!! Welcome home Brooklyn!

ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the link to the packing list! We traveled in Sept.07 to bring home our daughter who had a cleft lip/palate, but it seems so long ago now, I've been researching everything! We are currently waiting on LOA/LSC for our little guy with cleft lip/palate too. We can't wait and are hoping for fall travel. Congrats to you on your sweet daughter! When our Lily had surgery we had similar feelings about her face changing, but it's all for the best and of course you'll love that sweet smile too:)!
ReplyDeleteAh so sweet! Your little girl is beautiful! I have two siblings from China {one still waiting} with Cleft lip/palate. Aren't they the greatest? :)
ReplyDeleteLove the packing list!
You rock. Love the picture. And, I know your packing list will help a ton of people. Who knows...maybe one day, I'll be using yours! :)
ReplyDeleteShe is a-dorable!!
ReplyDeleteOur daughter was born with a cleft lip/palate.
She has had a handful of surgeries....
I know what you mean....the cleft l/p is just a part of who they are...doesn't define your child at all.
I will be following your blog. :)
Brooklyn is just beautiful!! I wanted to tell you that I think your list has developed a virus. :( It messed up my work computer (never even got to the actual list) and then I saw a poster on RQ say she thought it was infected too. Could you please email the original word file? teraknepp at yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHi Tera! Already took care of it! If you click on the link on my blog now, it takes you to the China Adoption Online site that is now hosting the link. No worries on viruses anymore, I deleted the old link! Not sure WHAT happened there, I'm sorry!
ReplyDeleteYour Brooklyn is absolutely darling!!! I found your blog through the Sunday snapshot link and have had fun looking through your journey. My oldest daughter, Katie, made the headbands for Jiayin Designs. She's actually visiting this weekend, as it's our foster baby/ praying soon to be ours forever baby's 1st birthday! We've enjoyed looking at the pics and seeing the headbands on your darling girl!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jenn
